Effective use of the media is a crucial factor in expanding our Bank Like Appalachia Matters! campaign. Leveraging the power of the press will increase our impact on PNC both geographically and financially, deepen the spiritual underpinnings of our work, andstrengthen our story as we widen our sphere of influence.
We will learn with the guidance of trainer Myriam Fallon, a nationalmedia officer for Greenpeace. She got her start in environmental work as the Pennsylvania Field Organizer for Greenpeace, where she ran a successful campaign to shut down the Portland Generating Station in Portland, PA. During her time on the campaign she worked closely with local, state, and nationalmedia to successfully make the campaign into an ongoing mediastory.
Learn:
* the importance of media work and media campaigns
* the basics of messaging
* how to target the correct reporters and make the pitch
* how to become a stronger, more confident spokesperson
Pizza dinner included!
